OZZY Presents 'Young Achiever' Award (3/16/2004)

Ozzy Osbourne made his first public appearance
in England since last year's all-terrain vehicle
accident when he presented the "Prince's
Trust Young Achiever" award at the Pride Of
Britain Awards in London Monday night (March 15),
according to the Mirror.

The award was presented to 25-year-old Kevin Johnston,
whose £300-a-day drug addiction three years ago had
sent him to jail four times and made him an outcast from
his family.

In presenting the award, Ozzy, who also battled his own drug addiction,
said: "You and I have got such a lot in common. Tonight you are my hero."

He added: "And don't ride a quad bike!"

Ozzy Visits The USS Missouri Memorial (3/14/2004)

Ozzy Osbourne and his wife Sharon brought the their
MTV reality show, "The Osbournes", to the Navy
Tuesday (March 9), when they visited
and toured the USS Missouri (BB 63) Memorial
in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

"The concierge desk called this morning and asked
if we could give a special tour," said Same Lowe,
director of visitor operations at Missouri. "At
first, they couldn't tell us who or even if the
people were coming."

By noon, Lowe got word that the mystery guests were
the Osbourne couple who, along with a camera crew,
showed up at the memorial and began their tour. Lee
Collins, vice president for marketing and sales,
presented the couple with Battleship Missouri ball
caps as tokens to remember their visit.

Lowe led the Osbournes and the MTV camera crew across the main deck
of the battleship, explaining the armaments and history along the
way. Ozzy, who said he has a great interest in the World War II era,
listened as Lowe talked about the various events in the battleship's
lifetime. The tour wound through the ship's interior, with Ozzy and
Sharon asking Lowe questions along the way.

At the end, Lowe led the Osbournes and their crew into the captains
cabin. Ozzy expressed his appreciation for the tour and his
admiration for the sailors of yesterday and today.

"This has all been very educational," he said. "Being on the actual
spot where MacArthur actually signed the documents accepting Japan's
surrender was wonderful. This kind of thing you normally see only
on TV. Being here makes me appreciate even more the sacrifices the
sailors have made and are still making for all our freedoms."

Ozzy spoke passionately about the freedoms the United States offers
its people.

"I'm British, but the U.S. provides the greatest amount of freedoms,
personal freedoms," he said. "I've traveled so many places in my life,
and other countries don't have as many freedoms as the U.S."

Osbourne has enjoyed performing in United Service Organization (USO)
tours for troops deployed around the world in the past.

"I really like doing USO tours," he said. "Without those kids
protecting us, we wouldn't have all the liberties we do now."

Representatives said footage shot aboard Battleship Missouri may air
during the fourth season of "The Osbournes".

Ozzy's big night out raises £680
10 March 2004

A FANCY dress night with pub regulars dressed as Ozzy Osbourne and Austin Powers, among others, raised £680 for Snettisham's Tapping House Hospice.

Mr Chris and Mrs Lesley Cooper, landlords of The House on the Green pub in North Wootton, handed over a cheque to the hospice.
Mr Cooper said: "We charged £5 a ticket for the stage and screen fancy dress night on New Year's Eve and gave £3 from every ticket sold to the charity.
"We also had a raffle and slot machine.
"All the regulars were there, and we had 140 people turn up, with only three not dressing up."
Mr Cooper said they picked Tapping House because it was a local charity

Ozzy Osbourne chipped in to save a small village shop near his
Buckinghamshire estate, according to the U.K. 's Mirror.

Ozzy gave his local store a hand-out to ensure it wouldn't close after
villagers wrote him a letter. Mirror was told: "Locals were asked to either
give money or time and he was happy to help, but sadly he won't be serving
behind the counter."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OZZFEST ROARS INTO NINTH YEAR AS SUMMER'S PREMIER CONCERT FESTIVAL;
2004 ROAD SHOW BOASTS OZZY OSBOURNE, JUDAS PRIEST, SLAYER, SLIPKNOT

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 20, 2004 - "The day OZZfest comes to town is the best day of summer for hardcore fans of hard rock and metal music. They know they're getting value beyond what they paid for." So says OZZfest founder Sharon Osbourne. "The music starts at 9:30 a.m. and doesn't stop until Ozzy leaves the stage at 11:00 p.m. What they get is 20-plus bands, 13 and a half hours of non-stop music on two stages, and enough rock insanity to last them until the next year for about the same amount they'd pay to get into [Six Flags] Magic Mountain. And seeing Ozzy onstage is a better ride than any fucking rollercoaster."

Indeed, it's the attention to its fans that makes OZZfest so popular - it was recently voted the "#2 Tour of 2003" by the readers of Rolling Stone. In fact, fans helped choose the second-stage acts for OZZfest 2004, with more than 65,000 responding in the first weekend to a poll at www.ozzfest.com. Ozzfest.com will be the site to purchase the best Ozzfest tickets first. OZZfest is truly unique in that the fans speak, and the festival listens.

Having come to define summer for many a metalhead, OZZfest is returning for an incredible ninth consecutive year, with 26 dates beginning July 10 in Hartford, Conn. The earsplitting extravaganza has earned a hallowed position in the busiest tour season with a relentless commitment to its core fans and the consistency of quality they demand as their birthright. Fanatical concertgoers revisit the scene each year as a new crop of hard-rock hellions is cultivated. They know they'll see established acts they've grown to worship and discover developing artists they'll bow down to for many full moons yet to come.

As in previous incarnations, OZZfest 2004 will present two stages, with The Iron Man Of Rock And Roll, Ozzy Osbourne, headlining the main stage. This year's lineup also boasts the much-anticipated Judas Priest reunion, featuring Rob Halford; metal titans Slayer and Slipknot; Norwegian black-metal maniacs Dimmu Borgir; and fan favorites Superjoint Ritual (featuring Phil Anselmo of Pantera) and Black Label Society (fronted by Ozzy guitarist Zakk Wylde).

Among the newer bands who scored well on the www.ozzfest.com poll and earned a spot on the second stage were Hatebreed, Lamb Of God and Lacuna Coil. This year's second-stage headliners, Slipknot, will also be joined by God Forbid, Bleeding Through, Atreyu, Every Time I Die and Unearth. Further lineup inclusions - and plenty of 'em - will be announced shortly.

"We've been around for nearly a decade because we listen to the fans and stay true to the genre," says Jane Holman, longtime producer of OZZfest (she has been involved since 1997) and Vice President of Clear Channel Entertainment. "We don't make the mistake of trying to be all things to all people."

Longevity is measured in numbers as well as fan response to authenticity, and when it comes to OZZfest, success has bred success. According to Billboard: "Since its inaugural run in 1996, OZZfest has grossed a staggering $146.5 million from 236 shows that have drawn 3.8 million headbangers, primarily to outdoor amphitheaters" (Dec. 20, 2003).

To be sure, the annual blowout has traditionally showcased the most acclaimed hard rock acts in the land while at the same time exposing fans to up-and-coming talent. The second stage is well known for its ability to break bands and catapult careers. System Of A Down, Incubus, Slipknot, Chevelle and Disturbed are just some of the artists who've graduated from second-stage status to bona fide stardom. Others who broke out big after their stint on OZZfest include Godsmack, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.

Of course, the impact of OZZfest extends beyond music. The traveling show has spawned a community of likeminded souls and become a cultural touchstone in the process. It takes a village to raise a headbanger, and the festival's renowned Village Of The Damned - replete with tattoo artists, piercing booths, state-of-the-art video games, all manner of vendors and much more - will once again be in force.

It's not surprising that OZZfest is able to draw top-notch sponsors. Miller is the official beer of OZZfest backstage; the company will be hosting a tent backstage for artists and a select group of sweepstakes winners. Jagermeister, also a player in 2004, has been very supportive over the years. Hot Topic will host the second stage again and will be the tour's official soft-lines retail partner. FYE, For Your Entertainment, joins OZZfest for a 4th year as official music retailer and will host the Artist Autograph Tent. Trojan Brand Condoms are another key sponsor.

New this year on Ozzfest.com is Ozzfest Radio, powered by KNAC.com, "The Loudest Dot Com On The Planet." Ozzfest Radio will feature round the clock streaming of past and present Ozzfest performers.

This is truly a bonus for those unable to attend OZZfest 2004, but the fact remains: You can't download the festival experience, and OZZfest is screaming, sweat-streaming, air-punching proof positive of that.

Sharon Osbourne Show Canceled

by Lia Haberman
Jan 29, 2004, 4:30 PM PT

Sharon Osbourne's attempts to strike out on her own have failed.

The wacky lady's daytime talker--featuring Ozzy's missus hosting in-bed interviews--has been axed by the Tribune stations, its main outlet.
a d v e r t i s e m e n t

Sources close to the production confirmed the cancellation to E! on Thursday.

No official statement has been issued by producers, but without the support of a major TV-station group, the show might as well be airing on local access.

"We haven't renewed the show," a Tribune spokesperson told the Chicago Tribune (part of the same corporate family). "We've told them we're not interested."

Replacing The Sharon Osbourne Show will be an as-yet untitled Larry Elder vehicle.

Critics have suggested that Sharon's in-your-face attitude, foul language and quirky guests just didn't sit well with daytime TV watchers.

The show debuted in September to poor ratings and failed to improve, averaging a mere 1.2 rating for the week ended January 11. By comparison, Ellen DeGeneres' new talk show averaged a 1.9 rating for the same week.

Still in production, the show will end sometime this summer.

Not that the news will come as any great disappointment to Mama Osbourne. She's reportedly been trying to get out of her contract ever since Ozzy's ATV accident in December.

Wish granted, Sharon.

Apparently less obtrusive to the family are the ever-present MTV cameras at Casa Osbourne in Beverly Hills.

A new season of The Osbournes kicked off on the music network Tuesday night.

But, as usual, the show will have to play catch up just to keep up with the family's real-life exploits.

In the premiere episode, Sharon still has a job (though cracks have begun to show) and Ozzy is still a couple of months away from his near-death ATV accident.

According to USA Today, Ozzy's accident will show up in episode five, when the rocker returns to the family's Buckinghamshire estate in England. He and Kelly were in the U.K. to promote their duet "Changes," a track he originally recorded with Black Sabbath.

The Prince of Darkness broke several ribs, fractured his collarbone and suffered a broken vertebra in his neck after wiping out on his all-terrain vehicle. He also underwent emergency surgery to stem bleeding in his lungs and restore blood flow to a major artery.

MTV backed off while Ozzy struggled in ICU. Cameras started rolling again once it was clear he would recover. But doctors have predicted it could take up to six months for Ozzy to make a full recovery, something that will show up in new episodes airing this spring.

Meanwhile, another Osbourne clan member is trying to make her TV mark without the entire family in tow.

Kelly will make her scripted series debut in an upcoming ABC pilot titled Doing It.

Based on Melvin Burgess' teen novel, Doing It is about the sexual exploits of three 16-year-old Seattle boys: Dino, Jonathan and Ben.

The reality star-turned-recording artist will play a love interest for Jonathan.

OZZY EN EL OZZFEST 2004.....BIEEEEN

Spokesperson: OZZY Will 'Definitely' Headline OZZFEST 2004 (1/26/2004)

Ozzy Osbourne will "definitely" perform at this year's Ozzfest, a
spokesperson for Sharon Osbourne Management has told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.

Osbourne will top a main-stage bill that will probably include veteran
British heavy metallers JUDAS PRIEST. Also expected to appear are
SLIPKNOT and HATEBREED, who will likely co-headline the festival's
second-stage. Other rumored contenders for the festival include
DAMAGEPLAN and VELVET REVOLVER.

Ozzy's ability to participate in the 2004 installment of the annual
travelling heavy metal festival was placed under a cloud of
uncertainty following his all-terrain vehicle accident in December.

Osbourne, 55, fractured his collarbone, eight ribs and a neck
vertebra when the 600-pound vehicle he was riding flipped and
landed on top of him at his estate in Buckinghamshire, southern
England. He spent a week on a ventilator.

Earlier this month, Ozzy cancelled a 20-date European tour,
citing his need to spend the next few months getting his life
back on track in the wake of the near-fatal accident.

Announcing the cancellation, Osbourne said: "I am deeply disappointed,
but it's out of my control.

"Right now I need to concentrate on my recovery and unfortunately
this is something I cannot rush.

"I have to take things one step at a time now. I look forward to
being back on stage as and when the doctors tell me I am fit and
ready."

Kelly Osbourne 'Doing It' for TV
Wed 28 January, 2004 09:21

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Singer and reality series star Kelly Osbourne is making her first foray into scripted series with America's ABC drama pilot "Doing It."

Based on British author Melvin Burgess' controversial young-adult novel, "Doing It" centres on the sexual antics of three 16-year-old Seattle boys: Dino, Jonathan and Ben.

Osbourne, star of MTV's reality comedy "The Osbournes," will play a love interest for Jonathan.

Kelly and her father, Ozzy, recently topped the singles chart with a cover of "Changes," a track Ozzy originally recorded with his former band, Black Sabbath.
